Install in a minute.

Windows

Double-click the setup file. It installs for your user only — no administrator prompt — and adds PaneScale to the Start menu and the desktop. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info → Run anyway, or install from PowerShell below.

macOS

Open the disk image and drag PaneScale onto Applications. Start it from Launchpad or the Applications folder; on the first start macOS asks once whether to open an app from the internet.

Linux

Run the installer — a short wizard asks two questions. PaneScale lands in your app menu, on the desktop if you like, and as the panescale command.

Windows from PowerShell.

One line downloads the current installer, checks its SHA-256 against the release and installs PaneScale for your user — without the SmartScreen prompt a browser download gets. Run it again any time to repair or update.

Linux from the terminal.

The installer works with a desktop dialog or right in the terminal. --quiet installs without questions, --uninstall removes PaneScale again. Prefer your package manager? Use the .deb or .rpm instead — updates then come as new packages.

Install on Linux
# Installer (current user, updates from inside the app)
sh PaneScale-0.3.5-linux-x86_64-setup.run

# Debian, Ubuntu
sudo apt install ./PaneScale_0.3.5_amd64.deb

# Fedora, openSUSE
sudo dnf install ./PaneScale-0.3.5-1.x86_64.rpm

Bring at least one coding CLI.

PaneScale orchestrates the agents you already use. If you don’t have one yet, Claude Code or Codex are a good start — install either with npm, sign in once, and PaneScale will find it.

Install a coding CLI
# Claude Code
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

# Codex
npm install -g @openai/codex

# Gemini CLI
npm install -g @google/gemini-cli

Updates that wait for you.

You decide when

PaneScale checks for a new version at start, every ten minutes and when the window gets focus. A small “Update” badge appears in the title bar — nothing installs until you click it.

Verified, then silent

Every update is checked against its SHA-256 before anything changes. It installs silently and PaneScale restarts in a few seconds, with your panes and workspaces as you left them.

Your data stays

Settings, chats, runs and workspaces live outside the program folder, so updating or reinstalling never touches them. See Your data.

Release notes

Every version is listed in the changelog, with what’s new, what improved and what was fixed.
