Video Studio
Product videos directed by a coding agent — scenes of canvas code on a multi-track timeline, checked on real frames and exported locally as MP4, WebM or GIF.
Open Video mode with Ctrl+Alt+5 or the Video tab in the title bar. Video Studio is a Labs feature that is on by default; switch it off there if you don’t need it, and the tab disappears.
A video is a timeline with scenes. Each scene is a short piece of code that draws one frame onto a canvas, given how far the scene has progressed. Because the same function draws the preview, the storyboard, the checks and the export, what you see is exactly what renders.
Start a video
Create a new video from a starter — Product teaser (16:9), Social clip (9:16), For developers, Facts & figures (1:1) or an empty one. Optionally write a brief; a coding agent then builds the video from it while you watch.
Add scenes from thirteen templates, each laid out for every format:
| Template | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Logo reveal | Shapes that assemble into a mark |
| Title | A headline that arrives word by word |
| Lower third | A name and role |
| Number | A counter with a drawn trend line |
| Bars · Line | Charts that grow in with their values |
| Code · Terminal | An editor or a shell that types itself |
| App in browser | Your UI in a browser window, with a cursor that clicks |
| Smartphone | A phone with a live list and a notification |
| Benefits | Three cards with icons |
| Quote | A customer voice with name and role |
| End card | A call to action with your address |
The timeline
The timeline has three tracks: picture (scenes as film strips), text (captions) and sound (effects).
- Drag a scene to reorder it, drag its right edge to change its length (hold Shift to snap to frames).
- Click the badge between two scenes to choose a transition: cut, fade, dip, push, slide, zoom, whip, wipe, circle, light sweep, glitch or blur — with its length and direction. Transitions overlap both scenes, so neither freezes.
- Add camera keys to a scene — zoom, pan and a little rotation with soft, ease-out, spring or linear curves — or pick a move such as slow push-in or focus bottom right.
- Zoom the timeline with Ctrl + scroll. Space plays, ← and → step one frame, Ctrl+Z undoes any edit.
Direct with an agent
Open the Direction tab and describe the video or the change — “make the hook punchier”, “add a 9:16 layout to every scene”. The agent reads the project’s README and plan, writes PLAN.md first for bigger changes and then edits the scene files. The stage shows each draft as it is written.
- Notes at a frame: pause anywhere and press N. Notes appear as pins on the timeline; send all open notes to the agent in one go.
- Compare: after a change, drag the split line across the stage to see before and after on the same frame — or undo the whole change.
- Three directions: let three agents build bold & kinetic, calm & cinematic and product-first versions in parallel, watch them play side by side and keep the one you like.
Captions, sound and look
- Captions are burned into the video in three styles: kinetic (each word lights up as it is read), plain or social (big words in the middle of the frame). A meter shows characters per line and reading speed.
- Sound effects — whoosh, riser, impact, click, pop, swell, tick and chime — are generated on your machine. Transitions get their sound automatically; add your own accents at any frame.
- Themes: Night, Graphite, Aurora, Ocean, Forest, Sun, Light and Paper — or set your own brand colors.
- Formats: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 from 720p to 4K, at 24 to 60 fps. Scenes re-compose for each format instead of being cropped. The storyboard shows every scene at three moments, or in all four formats at once.
Check and export
Check renders real frames and rolls the findings into a score out of 100:
| Check | What it catches |
|---|---|
| Syntax · Runtime | Code that doesn’t compile or fails at the start, middle or end of a scene |
| Determinism | A scene rendered twice must look the same — otherwise export would differ from preview |
| Motion | Share of still frames, a first half-second without movement, scenes that look like slides |
| Pacing | Very long shots, all scenes the same length, too many different transitions |
| Reading | Captions shorter on screen than their words need, text without enough contrast |
One click sends every finding to the agent to fix.
Export frame-exact and faster than real time — no ffmpeg needed:
- MP4 (H.264 + AAC) or WebM (VP9 + Opus) with motion blur in three qualities, or a looping GIF.
- Presets for YouTube, Reels/Shorts/TikTok, LinkedIn, X and README files (under 10 MB, the encoder adjusts the bitrate).
- Pick several formats to export them all in one run. Save any frame as a PNG.
